Buffalo, N.Y., Maker of Aircraft Lighting Systems Plans $7 Million Plant.

Feb. 11 -- Astronics Corp. of Buffalo, boosted by a contract with the U.S. Air Force that could reach $50 million, will build a $7 million plant in East Aurora and hopes to create 70 jobs within three years.

The factory will be built in the Commerce Green Industrial Park off Route 20A and will more than double the manufacturing space at the company's Luminescent Systems plant on Olean Road in East Aurora. The new plant will manufacture components for the F-16 fighter jet's night vision lighting systems.

The F-16 is the Air Force's main line fighter and has been used extensively in the Middle East during conflicts between the U.S. and Iraq.
