Technology Publishing Giant Ziff-Davis Sells Help Desk Institute.

Mar. 6 -- Help Desk Institute is coming home.

Ron Muns, the entrepreneur who started the institute 10 years ago and sold it in 1992 to the publishing giant Ziff-Davis, bought back HDI on Thursday.

He paid an undisclosed amount for the professional membership association. HDI's members are people who provide technology help within a company or organization on everything from a personal computer that has crashed to a computer network that can't download a document.

Ziff-Davis had relocated the institute's headquarters from Colorado Springs to San Francisco a year ago. Muns said he'll begin moving the headquarters back here immediately. A few key managers will move from San Francisco. Muns said he...
