Mar. 15 -- GREENVILLE, Wis. -- The Air Wisconsin work force of decades past was much like a family, and Preston Wilbourne was the patriarch.

For that reason the dismemberment and near-demise of Air Wisconsin six years ago hit employees hard.

"It was very disheartening for all of our employees," said flight attendant Kim Raymond. "They were difficult times (in the early 1990s). That's when United (Airlines) picked us up; little did we know that they were going to break up and keep our landing slots (at O'Hare International Airport)."
