Mar. 23 -- The official announcement may be a week off, but it's probably a good bet that General Motors' finance arm will locate a call center in Eugene.
A building permit application to remodel part of the old US West building on Country Club Road into General Motors Acceptance Corp.'s "Northwest Call Center" was submitted to the city nearly two weeks ago and is currently under staff review.
According to the application, the call center will occupy nearly 23,000 square feet on both floors of the 55,000-square-foot building and have room for 199 workers at any one time.
Remodeling the space will cost about $800,000, the application stated.
