Idaho City Prepares for Nuclear-Waste Shipment.

Apr. 25 -- With the first shipment of Idaho nuclear waste scheduled to depart for New Mexico Tuesday, Fort Hall firefighters, police officers and rescue personnel are getting ready in case something goes wrong.

On Saturday, representatives from Fort Hall's fire and police forces attended an eight-hour seminar on what to do if the truck -- carrying 42 drums of waste -- wrecks while driving on Interstate 15 through Shoshone-Bannock land. Chubbuck officials also participated in the training.

"Our first responders need to know how to deal with radioactive material in case something goes wrong," said Winona Boyer of tribal public safety.
