Apr. 29 -- FIESTA MALL BEGINS $5 MILLION RENOVATION: Fiesta Mall has kicked off a $5 million renovation that will give it a completely new look.
The Mesa mall is being overhauled to reflect a day-in-the-desert theme. The center also is negotiating to land a movie theater complex that would be built in the parking area near the food court between Dillard's and Macy's.
Some new retailers also are on the way, although the mall says negotiations to bring in a J.C. Penney store are off, at least for now.
"They're just not ready," said Sheila Hunter, the mall's marketing director.
The renovation will redecorate all of the "court" areas, sections of the mall identified by anchor department...
