Strike In West Virginia Hits Roanoke Electric Steel.

Jun. 8 -- Six months after buying a West Virginia steel company, Roanoke Electric Steel Corp. has a strike on its hands there..
Roanoke Electric Steel's quarterly profits jumped 43 percent after the purchase of Steel of West Virginia in Huntington, W.Va., in December.
But Monday, the company's main mill was shut down, according to Sam Perry, president of Local 37 of the United Steelworkers in Huntington. Its 480 production and maintenance workers went on strike late Sunday afternoon.
"We've got the pickets up. We're set up for whatever it takes, the duration," Perry said.
The workers rejected a contract offer Sunday because it lacked terms setting up seniority rights, Perry said....
