Jun. 25 -- A college student named John Abercrombie registers a Web address for Abercrombie.net and gets a letter from the legal department of upscale clothier Abercrombie & Fitch. A 12-year-old boy, "Pokey," sets up a Web site bearing his lifelong nickname and is warned off by the legal department of the makers of the rubbery animated figures Gumby and Pokey.

For Internet users and lawyers sorting through the muddled world of domain name disputes, such simple collisions in cyberspace's address book continue to be commonplace.
