Jun. 30 -- RICHMOND, Va. -- A Dutch company that develops human medicines using animals' milk is coming to Craig County and Blacksburg, bringing 88 jobs and $37 million in investments with it, state government officials confirmed Monday.
Pharming Healthcare Inc., whose parent company is based in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands, plans to open a cattle facility in Craig County and a milk processing center at Virginia Tech's Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg. A formal announcement is expected today.
Pharming was founded in 1988 and bills itself as "a world leader in the development and production of human medicines from the milk of animals." The company owns a patent on technology that enables it...
