Jul. 23 -- AS PART OF ITS turnaround strategy, Toys "R" Us is thinking small.

Toys "R" Us bought Imaginarium Toy Centers, a small upscale rival, for an undisclosed sum earlier this week. Toys "R" Us said it paid cash for Imaginarium, a chain of 41 small toy stores based in Saddle Brook.

The acquisition is part of Toys "R" Us' strategy to emphasize highquality educational toys. The 1,476-store chain has been losing market share, rethinking how it does business and revamping its stores.
