Clothing Retailer Banana Republic to Open Anchorage, Alaska, Store.

Jul. 28 -- Anchorage shoppers are about to get another choice.
Banana Republic is scheduled to open a store in Anchorage 5th Avenue mall. The opening date is tentatively set for Nov. 12, said Mary McBride, spokeswoman for the chain.
White letters against a dull, mustard-yellow temporary wall in the downtown mall proclaim a more optimistic store opening date of October.
Banana Republic, a division of Gap Inc., is the latest national clothing retailer to schedule an opening date in Anchorage. The store is part of a dramatic increase of Gap Inc.'s presence in Anchorage.
