Software Allows Women Computer Users to 'Try On' Macy's Clothes.

Sep. 3 -- A little shy about trying on that bathing suit at your local department store?

Software maker Broderbund and Macy's have developed software that allows women to create a three-dimensional model of themselves that can be fitted with the department store's clothing.

According to Broderbund spokeswoman Andrea Kroger, users enter their measurements after loading the $49.99 software onto their computers. Clothing selections from Macy's come preloaded, allowing the "model" to strut different styles and sizes for a 360-degree inspection by the viewer.

The "fittings" are done offline. Afterward, the user connects to Macy.com through her Internet service provider if she wants to place an online...
