Senate Report Outlines Progress on Stamping Out Y2K Bug.

Sep. 21 -- Today marks 100 days until year 2000. And Utah Sen. Bob Bennett is breathing just a bit easier with the release of a report that examines how well the nation is prepared to deal with the so-called Y2K computer bug.

The report shows most federal agencies will work properly, while state and local government agencies remain a concern.

"I'm most heartened by the amount of progress we've made since the [March] report," said Bennett who heads the U.S. Senate Special Committee on the Year 2000 Technology Problem, which released the report today. "Just about every area has come up. ... but we're still concerned about state and local governments and about health care" and the computer situation...
