Sep. 28 -- JEWISH CONGRESS TO HONOR AMERICAN AIRLINES, CARTY: American Airlines' top executive, Donald J. Carty, will receive the Torch of Conscience Award at the American Jewish Congress Southwest Region's annual dinner Oct. 6. Former U.S. Sen. Dale Bumpers, D-Ark., will deliver the keynote address.
The group's regional director, Joel Brooks, says the award is given "to distinguished men and women whose qualities of moral courage, love of liberty and service have contributed to the betterment of both the local community and the nation as a whole."
He said a unique feature of this year's event is that all American Airlines employees -- numbering more than 100,000 worldwide -- will be honored along with Mr....
