Nasdaq Planning to Change Its Ownership Structure.

Oct. 2 -- Nasdaq, busily transforming into a global market with extended trading hours, is planning on offering a minority stake to some major players already operating on the technology-oriented stock market.
As an initial step toward the public offering of Nasdaq shares, the market will make a private placement some time before the end of the second quarter, Frank Zarb, chairman of the National Association of Securities Dealers, told Dallas business and civic leaders on Friday.
"After we've done that, there will be an opportunity for all our members to participate. And after we've done that, we'll sit back and see if an [initial public offering] is appropriate," said Mr. Zarb.
