Oct. 2 -- Hewlett-Packard Co.'s new chief executive announced Friday that the company has started to shake up its sales force, taking a first step toward shedding its stodgy reputation of being an old-line technology company that was poor at responding to customer needs.
At her first high-profile conference with Wall Street analysts, Carly Fiorina, who was named HP's chief executive and president in July, detailed a reorganization of top management intended to concentrate the Palo Alto company's sales and customer service efforts under two top executives -- one of them Ann M. Livermore, who had been a leading contender for the CEO's job.
