Oct. 7 -- ATHENS, Ohio -- Fritz and Dolores Russ, who founded a business in Beavercreek with desks from Goodwill, gave Ohio University $5.8 million to fund a Nobel-like prize for engineers, university officials announced on Wednesday.

The Russ Prize will award $500,000 every other year, beginning in 2000, to recognize engineers whose work has benefited humanity. It will be administered by the National Academy of Engineering.
