Oct. 12 -- Half a decade ago, FairMarket Inc. founder and chief executive Scott Randall was selling laundry detergent for Procter & Gamble. A couple of years ago, he was selling computer parts. Today, Randall is trying to sell everything.

His Woburn-based company has emerged as a major force in the booming Internet auction business and a serious challenger to the dominance of auction leader eBay Inc.
