Temecula, Calif., Could Open Its First Licensed Radio Station.

Oct. 18 -- The general manager of a Hemet radio station says she's close to becoming part-owner of the first licensed radio station in the city of Temecula.
Helen Jones, who operates KWRP-FM, a swing music station, said her application to start the new station is now before the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. She expects the application to be approved by the end of November.
The new station would be owned by Jones and Don McCoy of Magic Broadcasting of Macon, Ga., which owns KWRP.
If the station license is approved by Dec. 1, the new station could begin broadcasting in January, Jones said.
