Oct. 28 -- David Goldman, the chairman of BATM and founder of Sage, has died after a long illness.
He gained a huge City following after taking Sage from a small vendor of packages for the Amstrad percent into the UK's biggest accounting software firm.
He lived to see Sage join the Footsie 100 and made over UKpound 100 million from its success.
At Israeli-based BATM he made another UKpound 200 million as excitement grew over its telecom switches.
Goldman, a generous patron of charities, also gave freely to the Labour Party.
His remaining 5 million BATM shares are worth UKpound 150 million.
