Oct. 30 -- For some women, direct selling offers a way to bring home the bacon without leaving home.
In direct selling, products are sold through at-home parties or by one-on-one contact between salesperson and customer.
Many people are familiar with direct sales companies like Avon and Tupperware. But in the United States alone, more than 140 companies use direct sales to sell everything from clothing to candles to food.
Local women say direct selling is a good way to make money while still having time for their families.
Mary Lou Warren of Greer is sold on Tupperware. A mother of a 12-year-old daughter, Warren has sold the products for more than 14 years.
