Nissan to Put Finishing Touches on Brand Strategy, CEO Says.

Nov. 19 -- TOKYO -- Nissan Motor Co. expects within a month to finalize a consistent new brand strategy that will influence the design of every Nissan car by a reconstituted design team, chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn said Thursday in an interview.

The Brazilian-born executive announced a bold restructuring plan last month for Japan's No. 2 automaker. He said then that Nissan will produce a new lineup of cars for the North American market, including a new Sentra in February, an Infiniti Q45 in April 2001 and four wholly new models, including a Nissan Z sports car. Nissan has suffered losses for seven of the last eight years and has run up debts of more than $12.6 billion.
