Union Officials Urge Rejection of Boeing's Wichita, Kan., Labor Contract.

Dec. 1 -- Officials of Boeing Wichita's second-largest union are recommending that its members reject Boeing Wichita's "last and final" offer of a four-year labor contract.

The offer, which Boeing made to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace in negotiations on Tuesday, seeks to institute "significant reductions" in benefits now in place for the 1,350 engineers represented by the union, union officials said.

"Major employee concerns were totally ignored," said Doug Ritter, chairman of the union's negotiating team.

Any reaction on the part of Boeing is premature, said Boeing Wichita spokesman Dick Ziegler.
