AT&T Selects Vancouver, Wash., Firm to Work on Fiber-Optic Network.

Dec. 6 -- WASHOUGAL, Wash. -- AT&T Corp. has picked PF.Net as one of three companies that will rebuild the telecommunication giant's nationwide fiber-optic network, a $1 billion project. Terms of PF.Net's contract weren't specified, but this morning's announcement represents a major deal for the Washougal startup company.
A telecommunications network provider, PF.Net was founded earlier this year by local industry pioneer John Warta. Warta also helped start Vancouver's two biggest telecom companies, Electric Lightwave Inc. and GST Telecommunications.
PF.Net already has begun building a $1 billion fiber-optic network of its own, stretching 6,400 miles across 20 states. Today's deal with AT&T gives PF.Net a...
