Norwegian Cruise Lines Presents Upbeat Forecast, Denounces Takeover Bid.

Dec. 11 -- In a bid to keep shareholders faithful, Norwegian Cruise Lines executives Friday touted the financial turnaround the cruise line has engineered over the last five years and boasted about the company's prospects for 1999 and beyond.

Despite the talk, however, NCL is clearly on the market -- for the right price.

Company executives announced they have retained Morgan Stanley Dean Witter to assist them in evaluating options -- ranging from alliances to acquisition offers -- that would translate into greater value for the company.

"The ultimate outcome will be more value-creating than Carnival's bid," said NCL President Geir Aune.
