Saks Inc. to Close Store in Green Bay, Wis., Mall.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Dec. 29--Retail giant Saks Inc. will close the Boston Store in Green Bay's Port Plaza Mall early next year as part of a three-store shutdown in Wisconsin.
The store, along with two Younkers stores in Milwaukee, is expected to close its doors permanantly in March. In each location, the stores set for closure are in direct competition with their sister chain.
"We think it's best for the market," said Julia Bentley, spokeswoman for Saks, based in Birmingham, Ala. "We took the most productive store and we're keeping that one open."
The Boston Store occupies 107,000 square feet on two levels inside Port Plaza Mall and employs 170 people. Saks has indicated it will try to relocate all employees in good standing to other positions within the...
