Warren Buffett Family Donates Berkshire Hathaway Stock to Charities.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Dec. 28--Warren Buffett and his wife, Susan, announced Monday that they have donated 2,500 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s class A common stock to four charitable organizations.
Based on the price at which the Omaha-based conglomerate's shares were trading Monday -- around $53,400, down $600 from Thursday's close -- the value of the donations is more than $133 million.
In a press release, the Buffetts said they were making the announcement because in the past, there have been occasions when their stock gifts have been reported in the media as sales. The Buffetts said they have never sold any Berkshire shares.
The charitable organizations, which the Buffetts did not identify, have agreed not to sell more than 10 shares during any one-week...
