Jan. 10--After more than eight years of operating one of the world's most unlikely celebrity hangouts, Jeremy Baumann is ready to pull up stakes and pursue a career as a professional writer.

Baumann, 36, owner of Jeremy's Cybercafe & Beer Haus in Joshua Tree, is selling the popular hangout at 61597 Twentynine Palms Highway, which he opened on Thanksgiving Day 1991.

Like the cafe itself, Baumann's method of sale is a bit out of the ordinary: He's offering the desert coffeehouse up for bidding on eBay, an Internet auction house more commonly associated with selling goods, not businesses.
