Washington-Based Nextel Joins Pennsylvania's Wireless Market.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jan. 12--Nextel Partners Inc. has become the fourth national wireless company to begin offering telecommunications service in central Pennsylvania.

Kirkland, Wash.-based Nextel joins AT&T Wireless, Alltel and PCS One in providing service in the Harrisburg market. Unlike the others, Nextel serves primarily business customers, but will sell to individuals who find a need for the company's three-in-one service.

"We offer a product here to meet all their communications needs," said James B. Wiegandt, Nextel's local manager. "One-stop shopping, we hope."
