Supreme Court Decision Presents Win for Microsoft Temporary Workers.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jan. 11--The U.S. Supreme Court failed to come to Microsoft's rescue Monday when it refused to hear an appeal of a case that grants thousands of current and former Microsoft temporary workers the right to buy the company's stock at a discount.
The temporary workers and their lawyers hailed the decision as a victory for employees who worked alongside permanent Microsoft workers but were not given access to the same lucrative benefits.
Meanwhile, at least one industry group said the court's decision not to resolve the case only makes it confusing for other companies that employ large numbers of temporary workers.
