Jan. 14--NBA PROFITS ROSE IN 1999: National Bancorp of Alaska's year-end profit for 1999 was $62.1 million, a 12 percent increase from $55.4 million in 1998, the Anchorage-based banking company reported. Earnings per share were $2.05, up 14.5 percent from $1.79 in 1998. NBA's fourth-quarter profit was almost $12.4 million, slightly higher than earnings in the 1998 fourth quarter. Last month, NBA leaders announced plans to sell the state's dominant banking company to San Francisco-based Wells Fargo & Co. in a deal expected to be worth about $907 million. Both banks hope federal regulators will approve the sale in May.
