US West Names New Top Executive in Nebraska.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jan. 13--Tim Sandos has been named US West Inc.'s top executive in Nebraska.
Sandos, formerly director of public policy and external affairs for the Denver-based telephone company, replaces Rex Fisher, who resigned last Aug. 1.
As vice president, Sandos will lead 2,900 employees and direct all regulatory and legislative initiatives in Nebraska for the state's largest provider of local phone service. He was expected to arrive in Omaha Thursday and begin meeting employees. Sandos, 42, takes over US West's operations in Nebraska as the company prepares to merge with Qwest Communications International Inc., also of Denver.
