Jan. 16--IS THERE A SAM'S IN OUR FUTURE?: Wal-Mart says it plans to build 20 to 25 of its Sam's warehouse clubs in the United States this year.
Any chance one of them will be in Owensboro?
Probably not this year, I'm told unofficially. But maybe down the road.
The company reportedly looked seriously at Owensboro a couple of years ago and may do so again.
There's a Sam's in Evansville, of course. But they're starting to become almost as common as Supercenters. And Supercenters are everywhere.
Paducah has two -- and a Sam's.
Wal-Mart reported in October that it has 456 Sam's clubs (named, of course, for company founder Sam Walton), 682 Supercenters (like the one in Owensboro) and 1,803 of the smaller Wal-Mart...
