Jan. 18--Southwest Water Co. is hoping to ride a wave of new development into the Inland Empire.
The West Covina-based operator of water supply systems announced Monday that it has formed a new subsidiary, Inland Pacific Water Co., to expand its business into Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
The deal involves a partnership with Richard Lewis, president of Upland-based Lewis Operating Corp., a large Inland-area real estate developer.
The two will work together on new projects in the region, company officials said. Lewis is the former owner of Lewis Homes, which was sold to Kaufman and Broad in 1998.
