IBM Introduces New Computer Developed near Raleigh, N.C.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 1--Folks say the PC is dead, or dying anyway. But there's a new frontier for PC workstations -- the souped-up boxes with loads of memory and screaming computer graphics cards -- and staid old IBM is swashbuckling for a piece of the action.
Last week, IBM introduced its newest line of IntelliStations including the top-of-the-line Z Pro, a Windows NT workstation with a processor as fast as 800 megahertz and up to 2 gigabytes of memory.
It was a redesigned version of the same machine used by Sony Pictures Imageworks to render the image of a dynamic and dapper new film star known as Stuart Little.
