Feb. 2--DISNEY DEVELOPS INTERNET STRATEGY: The Walt Disney Co. has designed a new Internet strategy based on a shift it expects Internet users to make, turning away from broad-based portals in favor of more specialized sites.
Disney, which last week said it will reinvent its Go.com portal as an entertainment and lifestyle site, hopes this somewhat narrower focus will give it a better chance at becoming a leading player on the Internet.
"We think that not even the biggest portals will be able to be all things to all people," Steve Wadsworth, president of Disney's Go.com Internet division, told the Banc of America Securities Conference.
