Turner Broadcasting Hires Coke Marketing Executive.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 10--Turner Broadcasting is about to land one of Coca-Cola's top marketing executives, and a leading sports marketer nationwide, to lead cable channel TNT.
Steve R. Koonin, Coca-Cola's vice president for consumer marketing, is expected to be officially named today as TNT's executive vice president and general manager.
Koonin will assume day-to-day control of a channel with 77 million subscribers that is routinely ranked among the top five in terms of viewership.
Koonin's assignment is to build recognition of the channel as a brand -- just like he did during his 14 years ...
