Buffalo, N.Y., Looks to Acquire Building for Medical Corridor.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 8--City officials are involved in a development partnership to acquire an apartment building at Main and High streets to develop a research center as the "signature building" for Buffalo's budding medical corridor.
Preliminary plans call for a multimillion-dollar research center at 23 High St. that could work in cooperation with the nearby Buffalo General Hospital, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute and the University at Buffalo.
The project is expected to be part of a comprehensive medical corridor plan to be announced by Mayor Anthomy M. Masiello in coming weeks. The mayor's office is getting feedback from institutes in the corridor and other parties with a stake in the initiative before finalizing his...
