Feb. 14--BOSTON'S FIRST ANGEL GROUP FOR WOMEN-RUN START-UPS TAKES OFF: One is a serial entrepreneur. Another is a BayBanks veteran who consults to start-ups. A third is a divorced mom with expertise in graphic arts. Two others work for the dot-com arm of Staples Inc.
One is a guy.
What they have in common: deep pockets. And an interest in investing in promising companies owned or run by women. They are Boston's first women's angel group.
The CWE Angel Network -- named for the Center for Women & Enterprise, which organized the group -- met last week for the first time and heard proposals from two entrepreneurs seeking investments. That's just the beginning, they say. The angels, who help fund start-ups before they're ready to seek venture...
