Feb. 17--When Frederick Praeger founded Westview Press Inc., his vision was for "books that matter" to stay in print, no matter how small the demand.

While publishing hundreds of new titles every year with national printers, the publisher ran small orders of new scholarly books and single copies of out-of-print books off several small offset presses in the company's basement.

Six years after his death and 25 years after starting the academic publishing company, modern technology may fulfill Praeger's dream.
