Privacy Lawsuit Is Significant Concern, Internet Portal Yahoo Says.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 17--A November 1998 contract with Universal Image Inc. that is at the heart of a legal dispute with Yahoo Inc. has been only a "minor deal" for the leading Internet portal's Dallas-based multimedia operation.

From the contract's inception through December, "a grand total of 14 orders for Universal videos have been placed on the Broadcast.com site," said Jonathan Sobel, associate general counsel for Santa Clara, Calif.-based Yahoo.

Videos provided by Dallas-based Universal never represented more than 0.06 percent of the total number of Web pages viewed at the site, formerly known as Broadcast.com, which Yahoo acquired last summer.
