California-Based Tickets.com to Let Customers Print Purchases at Home.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 18--COSTA MESA, Calif.--First coupons, then stamps, and now tickets to movies, concerts and games: Tickets.com announced Tuesday that it will soon add event tickets to the things that customers can print out in their own homes from the Internet.
The online ticket retailer will use the same technology behind Santa Monica-based Stamps.com to enable users to purchase and print out tickets from their home computer systems. All the customers need to do is buy the ticket, then print it on a laser or inkjet printer. Special readers at the event sites will scan the printed ticket for a bar code to verify it.
Testing will begin this summer, said Tickets.com's chief executive Tom Gimple.
