Lockheed's Fort Worth, Texas, Unit to Send Out Layoff Notices.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Feb. 23--Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. of Fort Worth told its employees yesterday that it will send layoff notices to about 110 salaried and hourly employees this week through March 6.

The layoffs are part of 800 job reductions this year in Fort Worth and 2,500 throughout Lockheed Martin Aeronautics' three-plant system, which also includes facilities in Marietta, Ga., and Palmdale, Calif. In January, Lockheed announced plans to make the cuts, part of a broad companywide streamlining aimed at boosting Lockheed's ailing stock price.

Further layoff notices will be sent to workers during the year, Lockheed Martin spokesman Joe Stout said yesterday. Lockheed will distribute the next two notices Feb. 28 and March 6, the company told its employees....
