North Carolina Investor Buys Niagara County, N.Y., Mall.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Mar. 17--WHEATFIELD, N.Y.--The Summit Park Mall has been sold to a North Carolina real estate investor, a representative of the current owner confirmed Thursday.
The confirmation ended weeks of speculation about the mall's immediate fate, but the future of the ailing mall is still undecided.
"We made a quick deal up there," said Haywood Whichard in a phone interview from his home in Raleigh, N.C. "But we haven't decided exactly what we're going to do there."
Whichard, who heads a company called Southtown Properties, based in Ft. Wayne, Ind., said he has hired consultants to decide the best use for the mall.
The sale of the Williams Road mall was also confirmed by Richard S. Vida, the head of a Chicago brokerage firm working the deal...
