Microsoft Unveils Plans for Video Game Console.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Mar. 11--SAN JOSE, Calif.-- Already the king of personal computer software, Microsoft Corp. on Friday said it plans to push into the living room with a video game console it's calling the X-Box.
The device will compete directly with the Big Three in the $7 billion video gaming market -- Sony Corp., Sega Enterprises Ltd. and Nintendo Co. -- and will be on store shelves in the fall of 2001.
