Apr. 26--NEW YORK--EMC Corp. yesterday introduced hardware and software, including what it called the world's largest data-storage system, which will help extend its lead over competitors such as IBM Corp.
At a conference with investors and analysts, Hopkinton-based EMC showed off the new products, among them a high-end information storage system, the Symmetrix 8000, that can hold about 19 terabytes of data, or more than twice as much as its top-end Symmetrix systems could previously store.
EMC also introduced operating system software meant to help e-commerce companies keep track of increasing volumes of data with fewer employees.
EMC said the new products will help the company meet its previous financial forecasts, and that it is sticking...
