Apr. 25--Walgreens wants to sink its teeth into the crowded local drugstore market, and it just may have a shot at being among the top three competitors.

After a 28-year hiatus from the area, the drugstore retailer has aggressive plans to open 45 stores by the end of 2001. It has already opened locations in Smyrna, Kennesaw and Marietta, and by year-end expects to have 10 sites.
