Norfolk, Va.-Based Publishing Company to Double Circulation with Acquisition.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

May 11--Trader Publishing Co., partially owned by Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, will nearly double its weekly circulation with a $520 million acquisition of 300 free-distribution, classified advertising magazines.
Trader Publishing, based in Norfolk, Va., is already the largest publisher of niche advertising publications for automobiles and boats, according to Conrad M. Hall, Trader's president and chief executive.
Cox Enterprises, owner of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Landmark Communications each own 50 percent of Trader. Landmark, based in Norfolk, owns the Weather Channel and other media properties. Cox referred questions about the transaction to Trader.
