IBM Rolls Out Sleeker Version of ThinkPad.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

May 1--RALEIGH, N.C.--Today IBM unveils a new line of ThinkPads designed to keep ThinkPad users happy and lure new customers to what Big Blue calls "The ThinkPad Experience."

The new machines are divided into two lines. The A-series, laptop computers designed to replace desktops, weigh in at about 6 pounds for a model with a 12-inch screen or seven pounds for one with a 15-inch screen. The T-series, denoting a thinner and lighter model -- comes standard with titanium-enforced plastic that keeps the weight for a laptop with a 14-inch screen down to 5 pounds.

Both lines come loaded with features to make life easier for laptop-lugging road warriors.
