Miami-Based Bacardi among Suitors for Merger-Bound Seagram's Liquor Brands.(Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News)

Jun. 21--Now that Vivendi and Seagram Co. are headed to the altar to form one of the world's largest media companies, the suitors for Seagram's distilled spirits brands are expected to begin lining up.
If the marriage is consummated, Vivendi has said it will put Seagram's liquor unit and brands such as Chivas Regal, Captain Morgan rum and Martell cognac on the auction block. Seagram also has distribution rights for Absolut vodka.
Privately held Bacardi Ltd., whose Bacardi USA subsidiary is based in Miami, is among the distilled spirits companies that are looking at Seagram's brands. Analysts expect they will sell for more than $7 billion.
